Hello dear friends!
I hope you’re doing well and that you’re managing to find some inner peace in the midst of all that’s happening. For me, my happy peaceful place is being creative, be it with polymer clay or machine sewing or, very rarely, painting with watercolor (especially to encourage my son to paint).
These days we are celebrating the Orthodox Easter. With red colored Easter eggs and our traditional sweet leavened bread.
I’ve been also working on a new tutorial. I’m still focused on using scrap clay. Especially that I loved the scrap clay from my latest project. This idea can be easily adapted: you can use your scrap clay, decorate it with silver metal leaf and texture it with a beautiful texture plate. And you’ll have beautiful textured clay to work with. Here’s the link to the tutorial if you want to see how I ended up with these pieces of scrap clay: https://learnpolymerclay.blog/2020/03/31/variation-of-the-hidden-magic-technique-with-silver-leaf-polymer-clay-tutorial/
This project is something like a patchwork project. You take small, beautiful pieces of clay and you assemble them into a bigger and interesting piece. I used several sizes of cutters to make the work easier.
I hope you’ll also like the idea of using the ripple blade to make a wavy border for the piece. I love this and I always love the end result.
As always I encourage you to try out this idea in your work. I also want to encourage you to stay creative, positive and, course, stay safe!
P.S. I invite you to sign up to my free mini course on 11 Ways to make and use molds with Polymer Clay and you’ll be inspired to use clay to make your own tools and 3D elements for your clay pieces. Go to my site http://www.LearnPolymerClay.com to learn more and register for my free course!
I am also a Teacher in the PCA 2020 and I highly recommend you to join us in this year round clay virtual art retreat, which is an amazing learning experience and the place to meet like-minded people. My project is called Spice up your clay using resin. Here’s a link to learn more about it: https://learnpolymerclay.com/polymer-clay-adventure-2020-join-us/ Take good care of yourself!
